Journey deep into the heart of Central America as you embark on this suggested cruise expedition that explores six of Central America’s magnificent countries. In partnership with Ponant, set out across the Pacific to experience the natural and cultural highlights of Ecuador, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama. From start to finish, embark on adrenaline-filled adventures high in the canopies of jungle forest, around the rims of volcanic craters and in the midst of some the most biologically intense places on earth.

Trip Overview

Depart from Dublin to Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Upon arrival, your private driver will be waiting to transfer you to your luxury hotel for your two night stay. Known as the “Pearl of the Pacific”, Ecuador’s coastal city is home to wonderful landmarks and beautiful neighbourhoods.

As you leave Guayaquil behind, treat yourself to an afternoon of relaxation at the luxury spa or outdoor pool deck. You can also meet the Ponant photographers and attend various conferences and shows.

Sail across the Gulfo Dulce and arrive at Costa Rica’s Casa Orquideas Botanical Gardens.

Reach the beautiful gardens by Zodiac and explore one of the most biologically intense places on earth. Look out for hundreds of tropical birds and mammals before enjoying a refreshing dip in the ocean.

Anchor at Acajutla to explore El Salvador’s Cerro Verde National Park.

Walk around the rim of the volcano with your guide before enjoying lunch overlooking Coatepeque Lake. You’ll then arrive at Entre Nubes for a coffee tour before returning by scenic transfer to your luxury cruise.

Arrive at Puerto Quetzal to explore Antigua.

Admire Guatemala’s highlights on a guided exploration of the ancient colonial city of Antigua. Visit landmarks like Casa Santo Domingo and La Merced Church before continuing to La Azotea Cultural Centre and the adjacent coffee museum.

Hike Nicaragua’s imposing volcano.

Arriving in the surfing capital of San Juan Del Sur, transfer to the base of Mombacho Nature Reserve. Drive to the volcano’s peak and hike around one of its craters, learning about its indigenous plants and unique ecosystem, which consists of several climates.

With your naturalist guide, experience travelling by cables through one of the richest ecosystems on earth. Fly over tropical trees and indigenous plants as you experience incredible views on your adrenaline-filled adventure.

Discover the Pearl Islands Archipelago.

Spend the day lounging on sandy white beaches and swimming in the turquoise water. The following day, you’ll cross the Panama Canal, which connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Pacific Ocean.

Arrive in Colón.

Your cruise experience ends in Panama’s second largest city, but your experience is far from finished. Your private driver will be waiting to transfer you to your luxury resort set in the jungle of Portobelo National Park, where you’ll spend the next two nights.

Explore Panama’s jungle.

During your stay, you will have the opportunity to embark on excursions like mangrove kayaking, pedal boating and rainforest hiking. Alternatively, simply relax in the idyllic surroundings and spend the day at a nearby sandy beach on the Caribbean coast.
