POCKET GUIDE TO HOLIDAYS IN  NEPAL

Kathmandu

Situated in a valley brimming with historic sites, ancient temples, dazzling golden pagodas and charming villages, Nepal’s capital and most populous city has history and culture waiting to be discovered around every corner. From the jampacked alleyways of the old town to the bustling backpacker district of Thamel, the city is well worth exploring on luxury adventure holidays in Nepal.  There’s a fascinating diversity of things to see during your visit including Durbar Square and the Monkey Temple.

The Himalayas

Luxury adventure holidays in Nepal would be incomplete without experiencing the wonders of The Himalayas. Stretching across Nepal and bordering Bhutan, China, India, and Pakistan, it is the highest mountain range in the world and also home to nine of the world’s highest peaks, including Mount Everest. Despite the region’s diverse climate, which ranges from tropical to perennial ice and snow, the Himalayas are rich in biodiversity, home to iconic species such as the snow leopard, Bengal tiger and rhino.

Pokhara

A tranquil lakeside city with stunning views of The Himalayas, Pokhara is both the gateway and endpoint for those trekking the Annapurna Circuit. From Devi’s Fall waterfall and the lively Old Bazaar to the colourful boats dotted across Lake Phewa, Pokhara is an unforgettable destination and shouldn’t be missed on luxury holidays to Nepal. Boasting a thriving adventure-sports industry, there are plenty of exciting activities to enjoy such as paragliding and white-water rafting. Cultural hotspots include the Gurkha Museum and World Peace Pagoda.

Dhulikel

With a history dating back 500 years, when it was an important trading route with Tibet, the hilltop town of Dhulikel is renowned for its breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayas. Located about 30 km from Kathmandu, it can easily be visited on a day trip, but an overnight stay is recommended if you want to embark on a sunrise hike. A classic old Newari town, its square is lined with temples including the impressive three-tiered Bhagwati Shiva Temple.
