POCKET GUIDE TO SAUDI ARABIA

Riyadh

The capital, and birthplace of modern Saudi Arabia, Riyadh (meaning garden) is a captivating blend of old-world, medieval charm and 21stcentury vision. Its compelling, centuries-old history is embedded within its colourful, atmospheric souks and forts, palaces and museums. Whilst being steeped in history, it is also a modern metropolis with glittering high-rises and is home to grandiose skyscrapers like Center Point, the architectural feat that is the twisted Majdoul Tower as well as over 4,000 mosques.

Al Ula

Home to Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site – Hegra – the ancient city of Al Ula, which was once at the crossroads of The Silk Road and The Incense Route, is a land rich in historical, geographical and geological significance and has only recently been rediscovered by the world. By day, tour heritage sites including the staggering Elephant Rock, Jabal Ikmah, Jabal Al Banat and explore the ancient city of Dadan. By night, unwind and relax with stargazing.

Jeddah

The commercial capital of Saudi Arabia, and the traditional gateway to Mecca, Jeddah is the second largest city in the country and a buzzing cosmopolitan hub. Al Balad, the historical quarter and a UNESCO heritage site at the heart of the city, is still intact and has undergone a Renaissance in recent years. And of course, the Red Sea is still fundamental to it all – for trade, for fishing for its famous seafood and for diving among verdant reefs.
