Luxury Holidays to Sweden

A Scandinavian nation home to some 267,570 islands, Sweden is the largest country in Northern Europe. With many areas sparsely populated, it is an adventure capital, offering sensational discoveries through its dense pine forests, inland lakes and the Baltic Sea. Major cities like Gothenburg and Stockholm are marvellous cultural hubs, where luxurious long weekends can be spent wandering the leafy boulevards and cruising the canals to admire the beautiful Gothic architecture and palatial islands. For a memorable Arctic experience, venture into the heart of Swedish Lapland on luxury family holidays and uncover the indigenous Sami culture and take part in a variety of adrenaline-inducing outdoor activities.

We’re experts in Scandinavia and have a strong bond with our partners throughout Sweden. Whether you thrive to explore from north to south, or combine with wild neighbours like Norway or Finland, we are ready to create your bespoke luxury family holidays to Sweden from Ireland. We promise to make your holiday a seamless one, and we’ll take care of all the little extras including fast track, flights, accommodation, and private transfers.

POCKET GUIDE TO SWEDEN

Stockholm

Fondly referred to as ‘beauty on water’ and ‘Venice of the North’, Sweden’s capital city is renowned for its innovations in music, design, fashion and technology. A historical and cultural hub, spend a morning in the city’s oldest district, Gamla Stan, before heading to any number of world-class museums and galleries. Whilst most famed for its meatballs and pickled herring, the culinary scene is well and truly thriving.

Swedish Lapland

Whether visiting in summer or winter, Swedish Lapland is a place like no other. In summer, the sun doesn’t set, a phenomenon referred to as the midnight sun and truly a wonder to behold. During the winter months, you’re pretty much guaranteed to see the breathtaking natural spectacle that is the Northern Lights. A chairlift ride to the top of Mount Njullá in Abisko National Park offers some of the best conditions in the world for seeing the Aurora Borealis.

OROKO Top Tip

During your Sweden luxury holidays, we highly recommend a visit to the private island of Bergholmen, in Stockholm’s archipelago, where you will stay in a luxurious tented camp. Explore the island’s diverse landscape with exhilarating excursions including taking to the water in kayaks and guided forest tours. After an adventure-filled day, relax on the beach, or in the hot tub and sauna before cosying up by the wood-burning stove or swapping stories around the campfire.

Best Time to Visit

Even with its northern latitude, Sweden’s climate is largely temperate. Mid to late summer is the ideal time to visit as the weather is warm and pleasant and there is an abundance of outdoor activities and events (including Midsummer’s Eve) to take part in. The days are long, and the country’s natural beauty is in full bloom. For those chasing the Aurora Borealis, late September through to April is Northern Lights season. The further north you go on Sweden luxury holidays, the better the view.
