Introduction

Maine’s position as the USA’s easternmost state has given way to a bounty of seaside villages and island getaways. Known as the Pine Tree State, Maine is also densely populated in white pine forests that shroud its rugged landscapes. Set amongst the scenic ocean and forests, Maine’s towns and cities offer a wealth of history, especially when it comes to shipbuilding and lobster fishing. Get to know this history as you travel through coastal towns and cities, dining on traditional dishes and adventuring along the coastal roads of the mighty Atlantic.
