It’s time to fly to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.

On arrival, you will be privately transferred to an idyllic retreat where you’ll rest and relax overnight.

Kota Kinabalu
It’s time to climb Borneo’s highest mountain, Mount Kinabalu.

It’s time to climb Borneo’s highest mountain, Mount Kinabalu. The climb will last three days, and you will spend two nights in base camp accommodation on the mountain. Stay overnight at a base camp of 3,272m before the start of your summit trek in time for a breathtaking sunrise over Sabah. Spend a pre-night in a comfortable Lodge in Kinabalu Park, Malaysia’s first UNESCO World Heritage site declared in 2000.

Mount Kinabalu
Hiking to Laban Rata.

This hike will take approx. 5 to 6 hours. The best approach to this climb is to take it slow and steady, then rest to engage with the stunning scenery that surrounds you and changes as you move closer to the overnight resthouse of Laban Rata, at 3270m.

Mount Kinabalu
Descend the mountain.

Slowly descend the mountain, perhaps taking a ginger tea at Laban Rata to celebrate your achievement. Meet your guide and driver and return to Kota Kinabalu, where you’ll spend one night resting.

Mount Kinabalu
Next, depart for Sandakan Airport.

On arrival, you will be privately transferred to the jetty and take a boat to Selingan Island, where you’ll spend one night in a handpicked resort.

Selingan Island
Learn all about the conservation programme that takes place here.

Home to green and hawksbill turtles, Selingan Island is world famous for its turtle conservation programme. See how they lay their eggs in the sand and watch as the baby turtles are released into the wild.

Turtle Indonesia
Privately transfer to The Kinabatangan River.

The Kinabatangan River has one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Borneo. Witness the comical proboscis monkeys patrol the treetops along the banks of the Kinabatangan River and look out for pygmy elephants making their way to the water to drink and bathe. Spend two nights in a unique rainforest lodge.

proboscis monkey Malaysia
Make a visit to the Sepilok Orangutan and Sun Bear Sanctuary.

Visit the famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Here you will have a chance to see successfully rehabilitated orangutans coming to feeding platforms. The Sun Bear Sanctuary is next door to Sepilok, and its aims are the same; to rescue and rehabilitate. Sail in a riverboat up the Kinabatangan River and spot many other wildlife species along the way.

Sun Bear
Your adventure comes to an end with some time relaxing on Gaya Island.

Privately transfer back to Sandakan Airport and fly to Kota Kinabalu. Just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu, take a boat ride to stunning Gaya Island and spend three nights in a luxury villa in this wonderfully peaceful area. Lie on the golden sandy beach or enjoy walks with the naturalist and kayaking through mangrove forests – the perfect end to your trip.

Gaya Island
Transfer by boat back to Kota Kinabalu for your flight home.

Arrive in Dublin.
