Luxury Holidays to Cordoba

Nowhere is Andalucía’s Moorish heritage more powerfully displayed than in Spain’s south, so luxury Cordoba holidays are a must for culture enthusiasts. The city is best known for its mesmerising Mezquita, a mighty mosque and one of the world’s greatest Islamic buildings. History comes alive through the city’s architecture, from the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos to its 16-arched Roman bridge. Córdoba’s charming Jewish quarter has deep ties to traditional bullfighting. The narrow lanes of the UNESCO-listed old town open onto flower-cladded courtyards and lively taverns where you can watch a flamenco show and sample local cuisine.

POCKET GUIDE TO HOLIDAYS IN CORDOBA

Best time to visit

April to October is the best time to embark on luxury Cordoba holidays. Experiencing a Mediterranean climate, temperatures can range anywhere between 12˚C – 36˚C. The most popular seasons for tourism are spring and autumn, with temperatures in the low 20s making it ideal for exploring. Spring is a particularly special time to visit as the flowers are in full bloom and there are plenty of festivities to enjoy including Battle of the Flowers, Patios Festival and the Spring Fair. Known for having the hottest summer season in Europe (especially in July and August), the city is best avoided at this time of year.

Cordoba as part of a Spain holiday

One of the best ways to experience luxury holidays to Cordoba is to combine it with Granada and Seville as part of a luxury self-drive holiday. Begin your road trip in Granada, where you will spend three nights. Enjoy a privately guided tour of the magnificent Alhambra Palace before exploring the rest of the city at your leisure. Then it’s time to transfer to the romantic Andalusian city of Cordoba. A must-see whilst in the city is the ruins of the Madinat Al Zahra, an important part of Cordoba’s historical tapestry. On arrival in Seville, discover fantastic architecture at every turn as you embark on a privately guided walking tour. Bring your road trip to a close in the characterful city of Jerez de la Frontera, which is renowned for its flamenco, sherry, and Andalusian horses. Explore the city on a guided walking tour, followed by a sherry testing and lively performance at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art.
