Six destinations to visit in 2021

We are very excited about 2021, it’s going to be all about authentic experiences. Our Travel Specialists are sharing their top 2021 destinations – as they know a thing or two about crafting holiday experiences beyond the reach of the ordinary traveller. From Namibia’s impressive sand dunes to Halkidiki’s beautiful beaches, you’re sure to feel inspired. The possibilities are endless! For anyone looking for something extra special while on holiday, we offer a collection of exclusive access experiences that will impress even the most seasoned traveller.

Halkidiki, Northern Greece

Halkidiki is a region in northern Greece that is defined by rugged landscapes and jutting peninsulas. Lesser known than Greece’s islands and cultural cities, we think it is one of the country’s best-kept secrets. It is perfect for families. Why? Well, the beaches are some of the best in the Mediterranean, there are endless cultural and natural landmarks in the surrounding area and, most importantly, it is home to some of the best family resorts in Europe including one of our all-time favourites; Eagles Palace. Another bonus is that it may be off the beaten track as far as tourism is concerned, but there are direct flights and you can get there within four hours.

Puglia, Southern Italy

Puglia captures the heart of all who visit and for good reason. The south-eastern “heel” of Italy is a treasure trove of culture, history and memorable experiences. Whether you crave sun and sand, sightseeing or simply touring the area, Puglia holidays have something to suit every taste. Our European Travel Specialist, Aisling O’Carroll, has been to Puglia more times than she can count and says this is a destination to watch out for in 2020. “It’s just so different from the north of Italy which everybody already knows.” From experiencing Lecce, aka “Florence of the South”, to the unspoilt the beaches of Polignano A Mare, we think Puglia should be top on your list.

Indonesia, Southeast Asia

Indonesia is the world’s largest island country. With over 17,000 islands, it is also one of the world’s best destinations for beach retreats. But, Indonesia offers so much more. Inviting islands are home to endless discovery, cultural and natural landmarks and sheer beauty. Our Travel Specialist, Mark Glynn, says it’s not all about Bali. “All of Indonesia is amazing, from Sumatra and its orangutans to the stunning island of Sumba and to Java, the cultural heartland of the country.” Inspirational travel has never been so accessible, and we think Indonesia needs to be rediscovered in 2021.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik is a city in the Adriatic that is known for its medieval city walls, limestone streets and bright terracotta roofs. An excellent example of how you can combine beach relaxation and culture, Dubrovnik has some excellent hotels and boutique villas that boast pebbled beaches and jetties. Ideal for all holiday types, families can relax in beach resorts like Sun Gardens while honeymooners can stay in ideal coastal boutiques. Perfect for a week of luxury on the Adriatic, the dining scene is luxurious and days can be spent at trendy beach clubs, on nearby islands or yacht excursions along the coast.

Namibia, Southern Africa

A country like no other, Namibia allows you to explore savannah plains, sand dunes and impressive coastlines all in the one holiday. A land of ever-changing landscapes and unparalleled beauty, Namibia offers one of the most visually stunning destinations in Africa. OROKO Africa Specialist, Andre Migliarina, says it’s the ideal destination if you want to get away from the crowds, enjoy adventures and experience authentic local experiences. He recommends heading to Serra Cafema, a luxury wilderness safari camp that is in one of the most remote destinations in Africa. “It’s an opportunity to meet the Himba people of the region and have an authentic local experience.”

Borneo, Southeast Asia

Borneo is having a moment and we think it is one to watch for 2020. If you want a unique jungle experience, Borneo is the answer. A nature lover’s paradise, it is home to ancient rainforests, outstanding dive sites, clouded leopards and of course, orangutans. This is your chance to experience untamed luxury. Stay in remote lodges, trek with expert guides encountering some of the island’s most wonderful wildlife and visit indigenous tribes that call Borneo home. Don’t think its only adventure that Borneo’s famed for, it has some beautiful beaches that are the perfect ending to an island adventure.
