Eagles Palace Halkidiki, Greece

A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group, the five-star Eagles Palace Hotel and Spa in Halkidiki, northern Greece is a stylish yet unpretentious retreat. Child friendly and family oriented, the hotel features all sorts of programs and children activities for the little ones to enjoy, including a Kids Club, a kids pool, a playground, a special water sports program for children and a wide variety of babysitting services, offering parents some time of their own. The Explorers kids club is based in two separate, specially designed areas. Children from 4 months to 4 years have a dedicated space in the main hotel, whilst children between 5 and 11 are seconds from the beach.

The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino

The Westin Resort, Costa Navarino is ideal for family getaways. It is a magnificent 5-star hotel located in an exceptional setting. Families will find countless ways to explore and play; two innovative kids hubs, the Aqua Park, an indoor sports arena for basketball/volleyball, speed experience park, the 1.5 km-long sandy The Dunes Beach, as well as a wide variety of sports and activities. The resort also has two multi-awarded signature golf courses with a Golf Academy. This is a resort designed for children.

Pine Cliffs Resort, Algarve

Ideally located on the coast, lies Pine Cliffs, one of Portugal’s finest five-star holiday resorts. This sprawling resort with fantastic facilities effortlessly creates a magical atmosphere that is firmly family friendly. The full throttle children’s village is one of the best in Portugal with a playground shaded by towering palms, small go-kart track, two giant wooden pirate ships, swimming pool and 18 hole mini-golf course. For older children, there is a games room located next to the Corda Café and the Mimo Cooking school. (The games room is being re-located to another part of the resort ahead of this year’s summer season) From our experience, the Ocean Suites, Pine Cliffs Gardens and private villas are excellent options for families.

Sun Gardens Residences, Dubrovnik

The Residences at Sun Gardens really tick all the boxes for families. The accommodation comes with a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area, and guests can choose between one or two bedroom residences. You can also enjoy all the services of a luxury hotel including daily room cleaning and room service. There’s a huge range of activities, so while you go jet skiing and mountain biking, your children can play basketball and have fun in the dedicated kids’ club. There’s also a Sports Academy training football, tennis, water polo and basketball (six days, for seven to 15 year-olds). The Lemonia pool is where most of the action is, popular with families and complete with slide and shallow kids’ area.

Martinhal Sagres, Portugal

This luxurious village-style resort of Martinhal Sagres has exceptional facilities and is a perfect choice for families. The contemporary hotel has a chic low-rise design and is in a fantastic beachside setting. As a family-oriented hotel it offers a baby concierge service which provides everything from bottle warmers to buggies and a kids’ clubs that caters for 6 months to 16 years. The resort even has its own village shop so you can easily stock up on essentials, as well as freshly baked bread and takeaway meals. Ritz-Carlton, Abama is a beautiful retreat with spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and La Gomera Island. There is a golden sandy beach around the cove reached by a funicular and also a train to help guests get the most from the resort. The lively Ritz Kids’ Club has an ever-changing schedule of creative activities, with games designed both for outdoors and in the shade. There is also a teenagers’ programme for 13-17 year olds in the school holidays. Those who wish simply to relax can choose from a wide selection of pools or the beach club, in the secluded sandy cove.
