Trip Overview

Depart from Dublin to Beijing.

On arrival, you will be privately transferred to your hotel where you will spend one night before flying to Pyongyang, North Korea.

It’s time to depart for Pyongyang.

Your local driver and guide will meet you on arrival and take you to your accommodation where you’ll stay overnight. Enjoy a privately guided tour of Pyongyang, exploring Mansudae Hill, the huge statues of past leaders, the National Library and the Juche Tower.

Journey to Kaesong, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Spend the next two nights here in a traditional Korean House. With your guide discover this ancient city, once the capital of the Koryo Dynasty. Visit the DMZ where the armistice talks began. You’ll also visit Koryo History Museum located within the walls of the very first University in Korea.

Return to Pyongyang for an overnight stay.

Stop enroute to visit the ancient citadel of mountains and Jongbul Temple. With your guide, visit the new Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum which exhibits Korean War memorabilia. Visit Tongmyong Tomb where King Jumong, Founder of Koguryo Kingdom, remains since his death in the 4th-century.

Privately transfer to Mount Myohyang.

Enroute, visit the Mausoleum of Kim Il Sung, the Revolution Martyrs’ Cemetery and the Museum of the Foundation of the Party. Continue towards Myohyang where you’ll spend one night. Myohyang, or “mysterious perfume mountain”, ia a beautiful green area in the stunning countryside.

Visit the International Friendship Exhibition.

It displays various gifts presented to President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il by political, economic and military personalities worldwide. Next visit the large Pohyon Buddhist Temple, home to one of the rare Tripitaka Koreana copy. Return to Pyongyang for an overnight stay.

Transfer to Wonsan, a port of the East Sea.

On the way, enjoy panoramic views as you pass through the impressive Sinpyong Valley. Wonsan city is an important educational centre featuring 10 universities. Visit the old steam train at the railway station before heading to Ulrim Waterfall and on to a ski resort on the outskirts of Wonsan by the Masik Pass where you’ll spend one night.

Transfer along the Southern coastline.

This breathtaking region is dotted with ancient temples and waterfalls. Stop enroute to visit a cooperative farm, a fundamental base to the country’s agricultural economy, which can include several hundred families.

Arrive at Mount Kumgang.

Visit the 7th century Buddhist Temple and enjoy a hike to Samil Lake before checking into your hotel for an overnight stay. Explore Mount Kumgang, walking the paths of the lush landscape. Stop at the Nine-Dragon Waterfall before climbing to the basins of Eight Tales. As you transfer back towards to your ski resort for an overnight stay, discover Chongokchong and its splendid basalt formations.

Journey back to Pyongyang for an overnight stay.

Visit Mangyongdae, the birthplace of the Founder of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. It became a very important pilgrimage site for North Korean’s to pay their respect and more particularly before the birthday of Kim Il Sung.

Transfer by rail to the boundary of the Great Wall of China.

The train will take you to Dandong port-city where you will stay overnight before continuing to the Great Wall, located in the Mountains of the Tiger. Enjoy a short walk towards the Great Wall, taking in the breathtaking view over North Korea. From there, visit the Korea War Museum.

It’s time to leave North Korea behind and depart for Shanghai, China.

Spend your final two nights exploring the sites and sounds of Shanghai and staying in a handpicked property.
