Introduction

Explore the Wild Coast of the Guiana Shield, a 1.7 billion-year-old Precambrian geological formation in northeast South America, and one of the world’s most biodiverse and culturally diverse regions. Make your way across Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana, marvelling at the waterfalls, wildlife and untouched rainforests that you discover. The Guiana Shield is home to endangered species such as the jaguar, giant anteater, giant river otter, tapir and so much more. When you’re not exploring the natural landscape, get to know the cultures of the countries with visits to indigenous communities and discoveries of the remnants of European colonialism.

Trip Overview

Depart from Dublin to New York and on to Guyana.

On arrival in New York, be privately transferred to your accommodation where you’ll spend two nights before departing to Guyana’s capital of Georgetown. Your driver will be waiting to privately transfer you to your accommodation where you’ll spend the next three nights.

Discover the beauty of Guyana.

Enjoy the tropical welcome of Georgetown as you explore its many museums and monuments. Set out on a day trip to Kaieteur Falls, a mighty single drop waterfall standing four times higher than Niagara Falls. Explore the surrounding national park overflowing with unique bird species and colourful flora.

Journey deep into the Amazon Rainforest.

Arrive in Iwokrama where you’ll spend the next two nights. Explore the trails of the rainforest, searching for the elusive jaguar and enjoying breathtaking vistas from the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway. Proceed to Surama Village where you will spend one night learning about how the indigenous Makushi people live.

Fly to Paramaribo.

Spend one night in Suriname’s capital before being privately transferred to Danpaati for the night. Tune in with local culture and the people that call the rainforest home. Return to spend the night in Paramaribo and explore the city’s Dutch influences at Fort Zeelandia and other iconic landmarks.
