Moving from the mainland beaches of Khao Lak to the quieter rhythms of Koh Yao Yai, this journey traces a softer side of Thailand’s Andaman coast.
In Khao Lak, rainforest edges wide stretches of sand and sunsets settle slowly over the sea. Local markets and family-run restaurants reveal a lived-in authenticity, while offshore islands offer coral-rich shallows and hidden coves.
Further south, Koh Yao Yai feels intentionally removed. Facing the limestone silhouettes of Phang Nga Bay, the island offers space — for swimming, island-hopping by longtail boat and afternoons shaped by tide and light. Between jungle textures and open water, the rhythm becomes instinctively slower.

Arrive in Phuket and transfer north to Khao Lak, where long beaches meet jungle-covered hills. The first days are intentionally unhurried — swimming in warm waters, exploring local markets and adjusting to the rhythm of coastal Thailand.
Optional boat trips reveal offshore islands and coral-rich snorkelling sites, while evenings are best spent dining near the sea as the sky fades from gold to indigo.
