Winter in Finnish Lapland begins with forests buried in snow, huskies eager to run and Arctic nights when the Northern Lights might appear overhead. Stay beneath a 360° glass roof at Apukka Resort, travel into the wilderness by husky and snowmobile, and follow the elves into Santa Claus Secret Forest for a private family experience at the heart of the journey.

From mid-November, winter transforms the forests around Rovaniemi. Snow-covered trails disappear between the pines, daylight shortens towards the Polar Night and the long Arctic evenings bring the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights.
At Apukka Resort, much of the adventure begins within the surrounding wilderness. Families sleep beneath a 360° glass roof in a two-storey Kammi Glass Igloo Suite, while huskies and snowmobiles take over from conventional sightseeing. One evening, a Snowtrain carries families through the darkened forest to an Aurora Camp, where fires are lit and hot drinks are served beneath the Arctic sky.
For younger children, the journey to Santa is given a day of its own. Elves lead families into Santa Claus Secret Forest for Santa's Helpers Training, gingerbread decorating and the Christmas Command Centre before a private meeting with Santa.

Fly from Dublin to Rovaniemi and privately transfer to Apukka Resort, where a two-storey Kammi Glass Igloo Suite will be home for the next three nights. Its upper level sits beneath a 360° glass roof, keeping the Arctic sky overhead from bed.
After dinner, board the Snowtrain and travel through the snow-covered forest to a Northern Lights Camp. Spend time around the fire with hot drinks and snacks while watching the sky for the aurora, before returning through the forest to Apukka.
