The Places We’ve Been
Mid-Year Highlights from Our Travel Experts
At OROKO, our Travel Specialists are more than just experts in the industry; they are true travel enthusiasts fuelled by a passion for exploration. Their dedication to venturing into uncharted territories and engaging deeply with local culture underscores their commitment to providing unmatched personal service to our clients.
Our Travel Specialist, Mary Masterson, explains; “Each year, we visit destinations we recommend to our clients and forge meaningful relationships with drivers, guides, and even village chiefs. This ensures that when our guests arrive, they are warmly welcomed and treated like part of the extended OROKO family.”
Here’s a glimpse into the incredible journeys our team has undertaken so far this year.
Mary in Tanzania
Mary is deeply passionate about crafting the perfect safari holiday; “Safaris are one of my favourite holidays to arrange for our clients because I know the destinations inside and out.”
Her recent trip led her to the mesmerising landscapes of Tanzania, where she inspected numerous luxury camps across the country while also experiencing unforgettable wildlife moments in the national parks. In the Ngorongoro Crater, Mary had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spot the elusive black rhino in its natural habitat, while the Serengeti provided thrilling predator-prey interactions and a magical hot air balloon safari over a pride of eight lions.
Conor in Norway
Conor’s recent journey across Norway was truly an exploration of nature’s finest wonders. The region’s dramatic scenery, with deep blue fjords surrounded by towering cliffs and lush greenery, offered endless opportunities for outdoor and cultural adventures.
In a country that is all about the great outdoors, Conor immersed himself in essential Norwegian activities, from Stone Age experiences in Tuvsjyen to sauna sessions and invigorating cold plunges in Bodø. One of his highlights was a thrilling RIB and eagle safari to Saltstraumen, the world’s strongest tidal current. “Watching the eagles diving for fish right in front of me was an unbelievable sight to witness, I can’t wait to recommend it to our clients”, Conor reflects.
Delwyn in Thailand
Delwyn’s most recent adventure in Thailand took him from the lush jungles of Khao Sok National Park to the dreamy beaches of Koh Yao Noi. An expert in tailoring holidays to Thailand Delwyn shares “I take great joy in knowing our clients are going to have an amazing experience, whether they’re looking for culture, wildlife, spectacular beaches or even all three — Thailand really delivers”.
At the elephant sanctuary in Elephant Hills, he bonded with the gentle giants while gaining insights into conservation efforts aimed at preserving these majestic creatures. In Koh Yao Noi, Delwyn stayed at Treehouse Villas, where the unhurried pace of life and untouched natural surroundings offered tranquil moments of relaxation.
Becky in Finland
Becky had the opportunity to visit Finland, exploring its picturesque Lakeland area and the magical city of Rovaniemi. In Lakeland, she experienced the quintessential Finnish summer, surrounded by lakes, forests and charming towns that allowed for a wealth of activities. “In the summer, you can go kayaking, eat outside, hike in the afternoon and finish the day with a sauna, jumping in the lake to cool off”, says Becky. The peacefulness and pristine nature of Lakeland was complemented by the region’s excellent food, which Becky considers some of the best in Finland.
Her most cherished memory, however, was experiencing the midnight sun in Rovaniemi. She recalls fondly “walking home from dinner at midnight with the sun still shining brightly across the river, it was a surreal experience.”
Aisling in Greece’s Top Resorts
Aisling enjoyed revisiting several of our luxury partner properties in Greece. Among these were the luxurious Sani Resort and the family-friendly Ikos Resorts in Halkidiki. “Greece is most definitely Europe’s best beach destination and the quality of hotels and resorts there are just head and shoulders above the rest”, remarks Aisling. Reflecting on her stay at the Sani and Ikos resorts, she adds, “They offer stunning beaches, great food, plenty of fun activities and outstanding all-inclusive luxury.”
Our team eagerly anticipate the paths their future adventures will unveil, and they are equally thrilled to assist you in embarking on your unforgettable journey. When you are ready to plan the trip of a lifetime, call OROKO Travel on 01 2600 240 or email info@orokotravel.ie
