Introduction

The vast temperate grasslands of the Great Steppe have long connected East and West. Across its expansive savannahs, the ancient towns of Central Asia reflect their remarkable past, whilst modern futuristic cities are beginning to thrive. Uzbekistan is a proud home to some of the world’s oldest cities that are still deeply infused with the fascinating history of the Silk Road. Fabulous mosques, madrassas and mausoleums are waiting to be explored. Colossal Kazakhstan sits on the windswept northern steppe and its capital beautifully reflects the harmony of modernism and tradition, while mountains and green valleys dominate the rural landscapes.
