Introduction

A family of sky-scraping mountain peaks, the awe-inspiring Karakoram Mountains are home to a string of breathtaking mountaintops, covered in ice and mystery. Towering above the rest is the second highest peak in the world – K2, the crown jewel in the appropriately named, “Throne Room of the Mountain Gods”. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, trek to the base camp of K2 in the greatest possible luxury. With a chef to create delicious meals, porters to carry the heavy gear and arriving at campsites with already-pitched tents, all there is for you to do is trek and take in this spectacular landscape.

After your luxurious journey from magnificent Islamabad to Skardu, staying in the finest accommodations along the way, begin your trek from Askoli. Walk along the Dumordo River to your camp in Jhula. The next day, trek to your camp for an overnight stay in Paiju before traversing the Baltoro Glacier to your Khuburtse campsite. Your next stop is Urdukas and then along the Baltoro Ice Stream to the Yermanandu Glacier, where you will camp on the glacier. Then it’s time to trek to Concordia, tucked away in the mountain giants of the Karakorum Range with views that defy explanation. After an excursion to K2 Base Camp, trek down the mountain, retracing your steps to Goro I and on to Urdukas, camping in beautiful Bardumal as you descend.

Trip Overview

Depart from Dublin to Islamabad.

Upon arrival, your driver will be waiting to privately transfer you to your luxury hotel in the city where you will spend one night. Settle in before embarking on a tour of the fascinating city. Pay a visit to sites such as Faisal Mosque, Pakistan Monument, Lok Virsa and enjoy a breathtaking view of the city from Daman-e-Koh.

Begin your journey towards the Karakorum Mountains.

Travel on the famous Karakorum highway with your private driver. Take rest in your comfortable hotel in Chilas for one night before continuing your journey to your luxury resort in Skardu, in the shadows of the Karakorum Mountains, your home for the next two nights.

Relax in preparation for your trek to K2 Base Camp.

Get acquainted with your awe-inspiring surroundings in your luxury resort as you get ready for your ascent. Privately transfer to Askoli, the final settlement before true wilderness. Spend one night in Askoli in your tent before trekking to the third biggest glacier in the Karakoram Mountain Range, Biafo Glacier.

Next, trek to your campground in Jhula.

Travel along the Dumordo River before crossing over a rope bridge to your camp where you will spend one night, complete with toilets and showers. In the morning, continue to the Bardumal in the Biaho-Lungma Valley before proceeding to Paiju, a lush green campsite under the shadow of Paiju Peak, where you will spend one night.

Set out for Khuburtse.

Walk across the biggest glacier outside of the Polar Regions, the Baltoro Glacier, admiring views of Liligo Peak and the rock faces of Trango Towers. Arrive at your camp in Khuburtse, where you will spend one night. Next, trek to your camp in Urdukas with superb views of Biale, the Uli-Biaho, the Trangos and the Muztagh Glacier, where you will also spend one night.

Trek to Goro II.

Continue along the Baltoro Ice Stream to Goro I and onto Goro II, the Yermanandu Glacier. Camp for one night on the magnificent glacier with views of Muztagh Tower, Masherbrum and Gasherbrum IV. Next, trek to Concordia for a three-night stay in the most impressive campsite on the journey.

Visit the pinnacle of your trek, K2 Base Camp.

Enjoy a day of rest in your beautiful camp with spectacular views of the mountains of Karakoram. The next day, trek to the base camp of the world’s second-highest mountain, K2. Take in the majestic views and celebrate your magnificent accomplishments before journeying back to Concordia for the night.

It is time to return to level ground.

Retrace your steps to Goro I and on to Urdukas, taking time to rest during an overnight stay in both. After a descent to Bardumal, delight in a one night stay in a beautiful campsite set amongst willow and poplar trees and a babbling stream.

Descend to Askoli.

Enjoy your final camp stay in Askoli as your trek comes to an end. Privately transfer to your luxury resort in Skardu, enjoying some well-deserved respite before travelling back to Islamabad, stopping in your familiar hotel in Chilas for one night. Stay overnight in your luxurious hotel in Islamabad, unwinding in plush surroundings.
