Trip Overview

Depart from Dublin to Kathmandu.

You will be greeted on arrival by your driver and privately transferred to a traditional Nepalese hotel. Spend two nights getting to know Nepal, which is home to eight world heritage sites.

Allow us to arrange an exciting rickshaw ride from Thamel to Durbar Square.

The journey will take approximately twenty minutes. Arrive at Durbar square and visit Teleju Temple, a gilded structure which was restored by the King in 1562.

Later on, visit the famous Monkey Temple.

Also known as Swayambhunath Stupa, this temple is an ancient Buddhist shrine which has incredible, panoramic views of the city. The temple is so beautiful; it is said that the glory of Kathmandu began at this site. This Stupa is the most ancient and the perhaps the most enigmatic of all holy shrines in Kathmandu.

Fly by helicopter to Lukla, the trailhead for your upcoming expedition.

Arrive at the historic airstrip, which is the highest in the world. As you ascend into the sky, watch as rugged foothills give way to the snowline and then to soaring peaks. Depending on the visibility, you might catch a glimpse of Kanchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu — the world’s third, fourth and fifth highest mountains.

Kachenjunga mountains
Spend the night at a cosy summit lodge.

Take some time to acclimatise to the altitude and rest up before the big day ahead.

Embark on your Everest region trek.

Leaving Lukla, begin following the trail to Monjo. Named by the Dalai Lama as the ‘steps to heaven’ the five-hour trek is a gentle climb up the mountainside through forests, over streams and passing small villages. Spend the night at a trekkers lodge in Monjo.

Everest region hike
Over the next four nights, trek higher and higher towards the summit.

Pass through the hamlet of Mende and look out for the colourful Impeyan Pheasant, the national bird of Nepal.

Trek through pine forests overlooking the Dudh Koshi valley to reach Tashinga.

The beautiful village is made up of tiny stone houses, many of which are now uninhabited. On a clear day, the views of Everest’s summit are breathtaking.

From Tashinga, make your way to Pangboche over six hours.

Cross a surreal suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, spot the elusive musk deer and stop for a break at Phuki Tanga, a small hamlet which is home to Tengboche Monastery. Continue on to Pangboche, a peasant village with panoramic views of the Himalayas and which houses the oldest monastery in the Khumbu region.

Hike the final stretch to Ama Dablam base camp.

Cross the Imja river and take in spectacular views of the mountain range. The base camp sits below the western face of the mountain and is located at 4,576 metres, surrounded by open yak pastures.

Retrace your steps and make your way back down the mountain over four nights.

Back at Lukla, take a domestic flight to Kathmandu. On arrival, you will be met by a driver and privately transferred to Dhulikhel.

Himalayas sunset
Arrive in Dhulikhel for two final nights.

Dhulikhel, which has always been an important trade centre, is a place of exhilarating beauty and unparalleled serenity. Also popular for the remarkable view of the sunrise and sunset, Dhulikhel is famous for its vantage location in viewing the Himalayas.

Bhagawati Temple
Indulge in some well-deserved relaxation at one of the top spa hotels in the country.
