In this suggested itinerary, stop off in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, to explore the fascinating crossroads of cultures and traditions. As you head for the jungle, allow us to create a bespoke adventure through the dense rainforests where you will meet orangutans, sun bears, proboscis monkeys and a whole host of exotic creatures. After your introduction to the wilds of Borneo, kick back and relax at a luxury beachside resort before returning home.

Trip Overview

Depart from Dublin to Kuala Lumpur.

On arrival, you will be greeted by your driver and privately transferred to your chic hotel in central Kuala Lumpur where you’ll spend three nights.

Take a full day guided walking tour through the streets of the capital.

Discover Kuala Lumpur’s treasure trove of wonders, encountering diverse cultures and visiting iconic sites. Sample some of Malaysia’s signature dishes and mingle with locals at the market, getting an in-depth look at life in the big city.

Depart from Kuala Lumpur to Sandakan.

On arrival, your driver and guide will greet you and bring you to Sepilok Nature Reserve, just a short 30-minute drive away, where you’ll spend one night.

Take a night walk with your guide in search of nest orangutans.

Our naturalist guide will accompany you as you try to spot nocturnal wildlife on the grounds of the sanctuary such as orangutans, slow loris and tarsiers, if lucky.

Depart from Sandakan to Kinabatangan.

An experience in itself, you will first be transferred by road to Sandakan Jetty where you will then climb aboard a shared boat. As you travel upstream on the Kinabatangan River, discover the unusual flora and fauna that inhabit the river and surrounding wetlands. Arrive at your lodge for a two-night stay.

Return to Sandakan and fly to Kota Kinabalu.

Return to Sandakan and fly to Kota Kinabalu. Spend four nights overlooking with the sparkling ocean on one side and the imposing Mount Kinabalu on the other, as you reflect upon your truly unique wildlife experience.

Depart from Kota Kinabalu.

Arrive in Dublin.
