Trip Overview

Depart from Dublin to Guatemala.

On arrival, your private driver will be waiting to take you to Antigua where you’ll spend the next two nights.

It’s time to explore Antigua and its valley by bike.

Antigua is based in a valley surrounded by lush coffee farms, tranquil mountain villages, and towering volcanoes. With your guide, head out on a mountain footpath or bike along some of the local back roads to get a taste of daily Guatemalan life. You’ll see everything from bustling markets and beautiful churches to cloud forests and myriad bird species.

Antigua volcano, Guatemala
Enjoy a fairly traded coffee experience.

With your guide, you’ll visit some of the families supported by this organisation where you can work side-by-side with small coffee farmers in their daily coffee processing, pick, pulp, ferment, wash, dry and grade the coffee (depending on the season), roast coffee over an open fire and grind by hand on a grindstone before sampling their handiwork.

Roasted coffee beans, Guatemala
Depart from Antigua to Guatemala Airport and fly to Flores Mundo Maya.

On arrival, you will be transported to Tikal National Park where you’ll spend the next two nights in a handpicked lodge.

Tikal National Park, Guatemala
Enjoy a privately guided tour of Tikal National Park.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it comprises more than 3,000 well-preserved temples, palaces, ceremonial platforms, and shrines surrounded by jungle; look for tropical birds and monkeys. As you explore the ruins, you’ll follow in the footsteps of the ancient Maya and visit famous spots like the Temple of the Grand Jaguar.

Set out into the jungle for a visit to the remote village and ancient Maya ruins of Uaxactún.

Renowned for its ancient elaborate astronomical observatory, the archaeological site comprises several partially restored temples arranged to coincide with the sunrise on key dates. Tour the site and also explore the village, while learning about the allspice, xate (used in floral arrangements), and chicle (natural gum) that locals collect from the jungle.

What people are saying

Conor in OROKO arranged a holiday this summer for us and our four teenage boys. We were unsure where to go and his advice was fantastic! He took over completely after a consultation about our expectations, taking into consideration our boys’ needs too! He most certainly delivered a tremendous holiday for us all – way beyond what we could have done ourselves, with each of our three destinations better than the last. All incredibly located and absolutely stunning!

Everything was done for us – check-ins/five-star transfers/individual bag tags/ferry transfers with all seats pre-booked! Conor was incredibly helpful, patient, knowledgable and open. It made our trip truly memorable from conception to finish and I cannot fathom planning a trip again without OROKO! Thank you for everything we will never forget it!
