Trip Overview

Depart from Dublin to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.

Your private driver will transfer you to the ancient capital of Anuradhapura, where you will spend three nights. The Ceylonese former capital dates back as far as the 10th-century BC and is home to a wonderful variety of well-preserved ruins.

With your local guide, ride alongside scenic rice fields, villages and architecturally stunning structures like Abayagiri Dagoba, the largest Buddhist monument in the world. Along the way, enjoy a delicious picnic by the Elephant Pond.

One of the most visited landmarks in Sri Lanka, the temple complex is home to over 2,000 years of history, with ancient statues and frescos to admire. We’ll finish the day at a local farm, where you’ll follow a farmer through his plantations.

Next stop, the Temple of the Tooth.

Another religious masterpiece, the sacred tooth relic was brought to Sri Lanka in the 4th century AD. Your guide will take you through various chambers, explaining the history and significance of the temple and its contents.

Board the tea train to the green hills of Dickoya.

Enjoy one of the most scenic train journeys in the world as you travel through the weaving tracks amid tea plantations, rice fields and mountainsides. On arrival, check in to your luxury hotel in Dickoya for your three night stay.

Set out on an exploration of a local tea factory and plantation.

Explore the plantation with your private guide and visit the factory to see the fascinating ancient machines that pre-date the industrial revolution. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious tea tasting in the gardens.

Take a scenic transfer to Tangalle for a relaxing beach-side stay.

Spend three nights in a luxurious resort and relax and unwind by the spacious swimming pool, in the peaceful gardens or by the shores. We’ll arrange restaurant reservations throughout your stay.
