Thailand Chiang Mai and Koh Phangan
Thailand is a country filled to the brim with culture, history and welcoming atmosphere. Misty mountains shelter ancient temples and warm waters lap gently on pristine sands in this tropical haven. OROKO can arrange a 10-night stay that includes the scenic northern city of Chiang Mai and the island paradise of Koh Phangan.
On arrival in Chiang Mai you’ll check in to Yaang Come Village. The resort offers spacious accommodation with modern Thai décor. Located in the city centre, Yaang Come Village is just a short walk from the boisterous Sunday Walking Street and Chiang Mai Train Station. All the resorts rooms and suites feature furniture that’s been carefully crafted by local artisans.
Chiang Mai is a bustling city that maintains sleepy mountain town charm and OROKO will arrange a tour with an expert guide. You’ll visit the magnificent temple of Wat Doi Suthep which is found at the top of Mount Suthep. To reach the temple, you’ll ascend 290 steps up its dramatic staircase, flanked by twin nagas (serpents). Wat Doi Suthep is dominated by a magnificent golden Chedi which contains relics of Lord Buddha. After visiting Wat Doi, you’ll visit Chiang Mai’s biggest market, the colourful Warorot Market and tour more impressive temples.
Your driver will take you to the pocket-sized village of Ban Mae Kampong. This village takes its name from the beautiful yellow and red kampong flowers that grow along the creek. On arrival, you will be taken through a brief history of the village before being led on a forest trek. Following your guide down the nature trail, you’ll pass by famous tea and coffee plantations and fruit orchards and eventually arrive at the cascading Mae Kampong Waterfall.
A truly memorable experience awaits you at Elephant Nature Park; a natural home and sanctuary for elephants, buffalo, dogs, cats and many other rescued animals. Listen to the stories of rescued and orphaned elephants and how they became a proud herd, free from abuse. You’ll observe free roaming elephants and other rescued animals enjoying the natural surroundings. You will also have the chance to feed the elephants from a viewing platform and enjoy the park’s river where you can bathe these gentle giants as they enjoy the water.
